GM Daryl Morey extended by Rockets
Houston Rockets owner Leslie Alexander has signed GM Daryl Morey to a new four-year contract. The four-year extension adds to the one year he still has left in his current deal, keeping him with the franchise for a total of five years.
Alexander has been pleased with what Morey has done with his tenure with the Rockets. They managed to make the NBA Playoffs this season after a three-year drought. And even though they bowed out in the first round to the Oklahoma City Thunder, spirits are high regarding the bright future of this rebuilding franchise.
Morey was responsible for landing superstar guard, James Harden from the OKC this offseason. They have young and exciting talent surrounding Harden and are in a position to be major players in free agency this summer. Morey, who uses statistics and complex metrics in his management system, has proved that these analyses may just have their place in the sport of basketball.
