Giorgi Shermadini pens with Cantu

Acqua Vitasnella Cantu (Italy-SerieA) has landed Georgian big man Giorgi Shermadini (216 cm) to bolster their frontcourt for the 2014-15 season. Shermadini has been a long time member of the Georgian national team from 2006 up to the present. He began the 2013-14 season playing for CAI Zaragoza from Spain’s Liga Endesa. Giorgi played 16 games for them during their run in the Eurocup and was able to post averages of 9.8 ppg and 5.6 rpg. In 17 games in the Spanish Liga Endesa the center delivered averages of 12.9 ppg and 5.6 rpg.

In March 2014 Giorgi moved to Greek powerhouse Olympiacos S.F.P Pireus. He managed to play nine games for his new club in the Euroleague and averaged 5.4 ppg and 1.6 rpg. He logged five games in the domestic Greek league and there he was able to average 2.6 ppg and 1.6 rpg.
