Gimle BBK wins Norwegian Championship
Gimle BBK has emerged victorious over Ammerud Basket Oslo, 102-68 and are now the 2014 Norwegian BLNO champions. Gimle BBK was truly BLNO’s top team this season, finishing atop of the regular season standings with a record of 16-5. This is their first BLNO championship. Prior to this their best performance was a semifinals appearance in 2010.
Gimle BBK played a well-executed offensive game and got many of their players involved in the action via 52 assists for the contest. They led from the beginning and ended the first quarter with an 11-point advantage, 29-18. They allowed the momentum of their strong play to carry them in the succeeding periods and simply did not look back.
Gimle BBK’s top scorer was Serbian import Dejan Majstrovic who ended the game with a massive double-double, scoring 21 points while grabbing 13 rebounds. He also dished out six assists and knocked down the most treys (5) for the game. Domestic guard Audun Eskeland handled the playmaking duties and delivered his own dub-dub with 18 points and 11 dimes.
To Ammerud Basket’s credit, they did have two players who managed to hit 20 points or more. Ronald Timus came away with 21, while Marco Sanders chipped in 20. Bench scoring was an issue for Ammerud as only Roy Nwachukwu and Mookie Rivelino were able to make significant contributions by adding 10 points each.
