Giannis, Luka Take Top Spots in Latest NBA MVP Ladder
Giannis Antetokounmpo and Luka Doncic take the early lead in the latest NBA MVP Ladder.
The latest NBA MVP Ladder is out, and it’s the usual suspects who take the top spots in the exclusive list. Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo and Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic are the leaders of the pack, with Cleveland Cavaliers’ Donovan Mitchell, Memphis Grizzlies’ Ja Morant, and Phoenix Suns’ Devin Booker completing the Top 5 of the NBA MVP Ladder.
Giannis Antetokounmpo, who turns 28 years of age this December, has won an NBA championship and a whole lot of individual accolades, including the MVP plum and the Defensive Player of the Year award. He’s taking his brilliance to another level this season, as he’s putting up an incredible stat line of 32.6 points, 12.9 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.0 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game. Even without co-star Khris Middleton, the Greek Freak is doing the heavy lifting for the Bucks, while leading them to a superb 9-0 start.
Luka Doncic has also been stellar to start the Mavericks’ campaign. He is currently leading the league in scoring with 36.0 points, while also adding 8.8 rebounds, 8.6 assists, and 1.9 steals to his tally. Luka’s three-point shooting needs more improvement in terms of percentages (only 26% this season), but his overall shooting is actually at a high (career-best 52.7% FG). With the addition of all-around big man Christian Wood, Luka has a strong supporting cast around him, which makes him all the more dangerous on the offensive end of the floor.
Along with the five names mentioned above, the rest of the NBA MVP Ladder includes Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers, Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics, Pascal Siakam of the Toronto Raptors, Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
