Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks on top

Giannis Antetokounmpo registered another triple-double and led the Milwaukee Bucks past the Brooklyn Nets yesterday (129-115).

This was the third straight win for the Bucks, who remained on top of the Eastern Conference (25-10). Meanwhile, they have the best record in the entire NBA and have already been considered title contenders.

This season, Milwaukee looks ready for a breakout year. The arrival of a new head coach in Mike Budenholzer and their new home court have bolstered their dynamic.

Giannis Antetokounmpo

Giannis Antetokounmpo, The “Greek Freak”, is the undisputed leader and an MVP candidate. Certainly he is underway to become one of the best European basketball players of all time. His supporting cast is of high quality (Eric Bledsoe, Khris Middleton, Brook Lopez) as well.

Concurrently, the players have adapted well to the playing style of coach Budenholzer and play better game after game. Against the Nets, they led by as many as 26 points and cruised to an easy victory.

Giannis Antetokounmpo led the way with another triple-double (31 points, 13/17 shooting, 10 rebounds, 10 assists). Middleton (29 points) and Lopez (24 points) also stood out for the winners.

On the other hand, five players scored in double figures for Brooklyn, with Shabazz Napier having a game-high 32 points. The Bucks improved to 25-10, whereas the Nets dropped to 17-21.

As mentioned before, the Bucks have shown they have the talent and potential to go all the way this season.

They will have to play consistently in the remaining games to claim the top spot in the East. They will then need to challenge the Toronto Raptors and the Boston Celtics for a place in the NBA Finals.

For his part, Giannis Antetokounmpo seems ready to fight for his first NBA Finals series. The Greek player has been unstoppable and is one of the favourites for the MVP Award.

He is averaging 26.6 points, 12.8 rebounds, and 6.1 assists in 34 minutes of action. In addition, he is also shooting at 58.6% from the field, yet his three-point percentage is very low (just 15.4%).

Giannis Antetokounmpo definitively has to work on his three-pointer. Otherwise, his low percentage will help his opponents stop him and this makes the Bucks vulnerable.

That said, his stellar performance on both ends of the floor is paramount for Milwaukee. He has led Milwaukee to the top of the NBA for the first time in many years. Moreover, the team has the best season start in almost 50 years!

Consequently, they are already considered title contenders and now have to keep playing consistently to maintain a top two push.
