Gediminas Orelik agrees with Umana Reyer Venezia

Gediminas Orelik (199 cm) inked a deal with Umana Reyer Venezia (Italy-Serie A). Orelik is a 27-year-old swingman who knows how to score, especially from deep. Last season, he scored 15.1 ppg on 41.7 percent from three with Banvit BK (Turkey-BSL). The strong shooting came in the Turkish league where he played 30.8 mpg in 31 games. Not only did he score for Banvit, but he also grabbed 5.1 rpg and dished 1.5 apg in his only season in Turkey.

Now, Orelik will move his career to another new country. The Italian league is where the Lithuanian swingman will be to start next season. Umana Reyer Venezia is the defending champions in the Serie A  after they defeated Dolomiti Energia Trento (Italy-Serie A) in a five-game final. The regular season went well too for the Italian squad as they finished in second.

Umana Reyer Venezia also competed in the Champions League and found huge success. After running through the regular season of the Champions League, the team went on a long run to the championship. However, they fell just short against AS Monaco (France-Pro A) in a high scoring 91-77 game. The addition of Orelik should add another lights-out shooter to the Italian team’s lineup. The team should continue keeping their expectations high and there is no doubt that they can repeat as Serie A champions.
