French Pro A Round 12 Recap
Round 12 of the French Pro A regular season is in the books. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket continues its reign as the league leader with its 10-2 record. They continued their win streak with a 66-59 win at home over JSF Nanterre on December 13th. Darryl was a beast in the paint for ASVEL finishing with a game-high 19 points, while also grabbing 15 rebounds. Nanterre (7-5) falls to eighth place in the standings.
Monaco (9-3) maintains a solo foot hold on second place thanks to their 71-93 road win over Orleans on December 12th. It was a dominant win with Monaco employing key runs in the second and fourth periods to secure their victory. Jamal Shuler led four other Monaco players to score in double figures with his 19 points. It was a solid team effort put forth by the visiting club. They had to overcome 23-point game from Marcellus Sommerville who put up a valiant effort.
Thanks to a 80-72 win over Pau-Lacq-Orthez on December 14th, Gravelines has moved into third place in the league standings. They share an 8-3 record with JDA Dijon, which is at fourth place.
ES Chalon-Sur-Saone managed a 89-83 victory over the Sharks Antibes at home for the solo fifth place with their 8-4 slate. Jeremy Hazell scored a game-high 22 points for Chalon, making 40% of his shots from downtown. Devin Booker chimed in with a double-double for 19 points and 10 boards.
Le Mans Sarthe Basket defeated Strasbourg CSP Elite, 79-70 on December 14th to move tie up both teams with identical 7-4 records. Strasbourg holds sixth place, while Le Mans is in seventh.
We’re not yet half way into the season and yet the action in the French Pro A has been both exciting and competitive thus far. Expect some changes in the standings in the coming weeks as teams improve while others falter. Either way, fans will be surely entertained with some great basketball action.
