Frank Gaines added by Metros de Santiago
Frank Gaines (191 cm, IPFW ’13) is moving across the world to play with Metros de Santiago (Dominican Republic-LNB). Gaines made the signing after finishing his season at SC Rasta Vechta (Germany-BBL) earlier this month. Vechta went through a miserable season as they finished second-to-last in the BBL with a 2-30 record.
The shooting guard played a large role with the German team as a scoring specialist. In his 32 games, he scored 15.0 ppg while shooting 35.7 percent from three. His consistency was not there this season as he had multiple games with single-digit point totals. However, he was still liable to score in bunches any night where he was feeling his shot. His season-high in Germany was 29 points this season.
Now he will join Metros de Santiago for the start of their season. They’ll get underway this Wednesday against Leones de Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic-LNB). Santiago won the LNB championship in 2014 and 2015 but lost in the title game last season. The team to overtake them in the finals last season will be the ones they face to open their season on Wednesday.
