Eurocup Round 17 came to a close on Wednesday night with five games in which Reyer advanced to the eighth finals and Cedevita climbed in the standings.
Lietkabelis Panevezys 75-77 Turk Telekom Ankara
Turk Telekom recorded its first road win since mid-December by topping Lietkabelis 75-77 at Cido Arena on Wednesday. Turk Telekom improved to 7-8 in Group A while Lietkabelis dropped to 8-6. Both teams have already qualified for the EuroCup Playoffs. Samet Geyik led the winners with a career-high 32 points. Panagiotis Kalaitzakis paced Lietkabelis with 17. It all came down to the final minute when Alex Perez’s jumper snapped a tie, and the hosts failed to respond.
Hamburg Towers 90-69 Dolomiti Energia Trento
Hamburg knocked off Trento 90-69 at home for their first back-to-back wins in 2022. Hamburg pulled away for good in the third quarter to improve to 6-8 with its third victory in the last four games. Jaylon Brown paced Hamburg with 22 points, including five three-pointers, while Maik Kotsar picked up 14 points and eight rebounds. Trento’s nightmare season continued with an 11th straight loss to fall to 1-14 despite Jordan Caroline scoring 21 points.
Buducnost VOLI Podgorica 73-75 Mincidelice JL Bourg en Bresse
Already eliminated, Bourg surprised Buducnost with a 73-75 road win at Moraca on Wednesday night. The visitors were down by 11 early in the second half, but a 3-25 run bridging the third and the fourth quarter allowed them to get back in the game. Jalen Jones had career-high 19 points to lead Bourg, which improved to 6-11. Buducnost fell out of third place with its record dropping to 9-8 despite 14 points from Justin Cobbs.
Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana 82-76 Valencia Basket
Cedevita thrilled a big crowd with a key home win, 82-76, over Valencia. An explosive second quarter from Cedevita saw the hosts score 30 points and take a 50-37 lead into the interval, but Valencia fought back to set up a close finish before the hosts prevailed. Zoran Dragic led the winners with 17 points and ten rebounds, while Mike Tobey powered Valencia’s challenge with 14 points and ten boards. Cedevita improved to 11-7 after seven straight wins, while Valencia dropped to 12-6.
Umana Reyer Venice 81-57 Promitheas Patras
Reyer punched its ticket to the next round by downing Promitheas 81-57 at Palasport Talaiercio. Reyer improved to 8-9 in the standings while Promitheas, already eliminated from playoff contention, dropped to 4-13. Stefano Tonut paced the winners with 16 points, and Victor Sanders added 12. Dimitris Agravanis led Promitheas with 22 points.
