EuroChallenge 2013 begins with Qualifying
EuroChallenge 2013 is set to begin today with the first Qualifying Round contests. Eight teams will battle for four spots in the regular season with home and away games to determine the remaining four spots in groups A, B, D, and G. Currently 28 teams are awaiting the results of the Qualifying Rounds to fill out the 32-team field and first games commencing on November 6th.
Besiktas Milangaz (pictured on Page 1 and above) is the defending champions, having defeated Elan Chalon 91-86 in the EuroChallenge 2012 Finals in April.
The Four EuroChallenge 2013 Qualifier Groups are:
Group 1 (Winner will play in Group B):
Aliaga Petkim (TUR) vs. Joensuun Kataja (FIN)
Group 2 (Winner will play in Group G):
Apollon Limmassol (CYP) vs. Xion Dukes Klosterneuburg (AUT)
Group 3 (Winner will play in Group D):

I wish there were more teams from Southern Europe.
It looks like Eurochallenge is Antarctica championship – Finland, Sweden, Russia, Estonia. You can freeze you meats off completely out there before play-off starts.
Boy – there are some teams in there with names not easy to decipher. Luckily some have the countries abbreviation behind it 🙂
