EuroBasket 2017 warmups roundup
Europe’s leading Basketball nations continue to prep for EuroBasket 2017. As we have already seen through several contests, countries cannot be separated. Games have been very tight and when EuroBasket 2017 starts next week, the eyes of global basketball will be on what promises to be an exciting tournament.
Lithuania vs. Spain, 78-79
Spain was taken the distance by Lithuania but edged to victory in the closing seconds. Pau Gasol drove the Spaniards to the win in what was a competitive game ahead of EuroBasket 2017. Lithuania was in charge 27-20 after the first quarter, before taking a 46-36 advantage through the long break. Spain used the third act to fight back with a massive 23-12 run to make it 58-59 through thirty minutes. The teams traded buckets in the fourth quarter and drew 20-20, allowing Spain to claim the success. Gasol claimed the winning basket on his way to 24 points and 7 rebounds.
Serbia vs. Greece, 69-67
The Acropolis Tournament saw Serbia and Greece play out another tight game, which eventually went to the visitors. Serbia led 21-18 after ten minutes. The teams could not be separated in the second quarter as an 18-18 tie allows Serbia a 39-36 halftime advantage. A 16-9 run in the third quarter appeared to hand Serbia an easy run to victory. However, the hosts fought back to make it very interesting near the final buzzer.
