Eugene Jeter lands with Besiktas
Eugene Jeter (180 cm, Portland ’06) agreed to join Besiktas Sompo Japan Istanbul (Turkey-BSL). Jeter makes his first move to Turkey after being a part of the Shandong Golden Stars (China-CBA) for five years. He’s been a scoring machine for the Chinese team with averages of 25 ppg or higher since the 2012/2013 season. The three point shot is his main offensive weapon as his percentages have been near 40 percent in China. Scoring is what he does best but he still manages to contribute with 7.9 apg and 4.9 rpg as well.
Now Jeter will make a drastic leap in basketball talent as he moves to the BSL. His new team currently owns a 20-5 record which is good enough for third in the standings. Besiktas will look for their new guard to contribute on the offensive end of the floor with his strong perimeter shooting.
The last time Jeter played in Europe was a short 18-game stint with Limoges (France-Pro A) towards the end of the 2014/2015 season. His time with the French team was a success as he averaged 12.4 ppg while shooting 43.8 percent from three. The team went on to win the French championship that season.
