Ettore Messina could coach Utah Jazz
NBA – The Utah Jazz are seriously considering Italian coach Ettore Messina for their vacant head coach position. The team recently announced that it will not renew the contract of Tyrone Corbin. If Messiana is chosen for the job he will be the first European-born coach to be at the helm of an NBA team. Ettore is currently in the middle of the second season of a three-year contract he signed with CSKA Moscow.
Another candidate for the coaching gig is San Antonio Spurs assistant coach Jim Boylen, who has ties with Jazz GM Dennis Lindsey. Unfortunately for Boylen, his rough run with the University of Utah from 2007 to 2011 does not work in his favor.
The experienced Messina has four Euroleague titles and Euroleague Coach-of-the-Year awards to his name as well as five Russian league championships and four Italian league titles. Before the 2013-14 season began, he was being considered to fill the head coaching job of the Atlanta Hawks.
