Elmedin Kikanovic lands with Monaco
Elmedin Kikanovic (211 cm) will be the newest member of AS Monaco Basket (France-Pro A). The Bosnian big man comes over to the defending Pro A regular season champions after playing with ALBA Berlin (Germany-BBL) over the last two seasons. He showed strong ability to score in the post as he recorded 15.5 ppg and 4.5 rpg in 25.2 mpg last season. The German league awarded Kikanovic with a spot in the All-Star game last season. His team also made it to the BBL semi-finals last season thanks to the scoring by the big man.
Kikanovic could not have joined a better team in Europe. Monaco is coming off a supremely impressive 2016/2017 campaign. They dominated the Pro A going 30-4 record which marked the best in the league. However, they were upset by ASVEL (France-Pro A) in the quarterfinals. The team also competes in the Champions League where they won their group with a 12-2 showing. They made it to the semifinals of the playoffs but fell short against Banvit BK (Turkey-BSL). Monaco went on to the third place game where they beat Umana Reyer Venezia (Italy-Serie A). Right now, they are ranked third in the world.
The addition of Kikanovic will add a new scoring presence to the team’s post depth. His ability to score close to the paint is a valuable commodity and Monaco is excited to bring him in. The rich in the French league just got a little richer.
