Ekenechukwu Ibekwe to CEZ Nymburk
Ekenechukwu Ibekwe (206 cm, Mayland’07) has agreed to terms on a deal with CEZ Nymburk (Czech Republic-NBL) and will be joining the team for the 2016-17 season. Ekenechukwu is a 30-year-old Nigerian-American international player who has been a member of the Nigerian national team since 2005. He had a busy 2015-16 season, seeing action for three teams. He played a dozen games for Sagesse – Al Hekmeh Beirut (Lebanon-Pepsi LBL) and averaged 15.1 ppg and 9.4 rpg. He also played for Krasny Oktyabr Volgograd (Russia-VTB). Ibekwe joined the Russian team in January 2016 and was able to play 16 games for them and averaged 17.4 ppg and 8.8 rpg. He spent the 2015-16 pre-season with Melbourne United (Australia-NBL), but later headed to Europe where he penned a deal with the Giessen 46ers (Germany-BBL). He played eight games for Giessen and produced averages of 14.1 ppg and 4.6 rpg.
