Dwight Howard Traded to the Charlotte Hornets
Dwight Howard is on his way to the Charlotte Hornets (NBA). The former All-NBA center heads to the Hornets from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Miles Plumlee and Marco Bellinelli. Charollote also takes the 31st pick in this year’s draft while giving Atlanta the 41st pick. The 31-year-old big man played only one season with the Hawks, averaging 13.5 ppg, 12.7 rpg, and 1.2 bpg.
Howard has a connection with the Hornets’ head coach, Steve Clifford. He was an assistant with the Orlando Magic when Dwight was with the team and considered one of the best centers in the league. Howard has not been the same since leaving Orlando after the 2011/2012. Watch for Dwight to get an opportunity to excel under the guidance of his former coach.
Atlanta trading away Dwight Howard for this small of a package means the team was finished with Howard. Trading him also takes his contracts off the books for the Hawks. This could be the first step into rebuild mode in Atlanta.
