Dirk Bauermann to coach Krasny Oktyabr
Dirk Bauermann is about to become the new head coach of the Russian team Krasny Oktyabr, although there has not been any official announcement yet. Nevertheless, rumors have been flying around since last week and Bauermann is expected in Volgograd soon.
Dirk Bauermann (1957) is a respected, well known and well-travelled coach. He has coached clubs in Germany, Greece, Belgium, Lithuania and the USA (Fresno State-NCAA). Additionally, he has coached the German and Polish national Teams at European and World Championships, as well as Olympic Games. His last two assignments with club teams did not end well. The last club team that he coached was Lietuvos Rytas from Lithuania during the 2013/2014 season but he was fired there in December 2013. Before the move to Lithuania, Dirk Bauermann was coaching German powerhouse Bayern Muenchen. He moved that team up from the Pro A to the Bundesliga. But in a shocking move ,just days before the start of the season, the club decided to part ways with coach Bauermann. He was replaced by his assistant coach Yannis Christopoulos, who was shortly thereafter replaced himself by Serbian coach Svetislav Pesic.
Bauermann’s new team, Krasny Oktyabr, has a 1-3 record in the VTB League and 1-1 in the Eurocup.
