Devougn Lamont passes away
Devougn Lamont, the former Trinidad & Tobago international has sadly passed away at the age of 30 years old it has emerged. The 208 cm forward has been in pre-season preparations with French NM2 outfit Beaujolais Basket, where he also spent the 2013/2014 campaign. Sources close to the team say that the player suffered a cardiac arrest immediately after a training session and could not be saved.
Lamont enjoyed a long and varied career in the sport he loved, and according to those who played with him and knew him, he was a kind and generous person. As a player he was unselfish and happy with his place in the Basketball world, enjoying a career that took him all around the globe. Wendell Carter, a former teammate from the national team, Lamont would often say “Come on guys, let’s stick together and stay positive.”
Stints in France, Argentina, Venezuela, Uruguay, Mexico, and the United States gave Devougn Lamont the chance to play Basketball on three continents. He was also a part of the Trinidad & Tobago national team, helping the country on one of its most famous court nights when it beat Puerto Rico (then ranked 10 in the world) Pre-Olympic Centrobasket 2010 tournament in the Dominican Republic.
