Dane Pineau joins the Sydney Kings
Dane Pineau (206 cm, St. Mary’s ’17) agreed to terms with the Sydney Kings (Austrailia-NBL). The Austrailian big man is moving his game back to his home country after concluding his four-year stay in the NCAA. Pineau played a role in the big man rotation for the St. Mary’s Gaels over the last two years. Playing in 23.3 mpg this season, he was able to score 6.6 ppg as well as corralling 6.1 rpg. The team went on to compete in the NCAA tournament this season and lost in the second round to Arizona.
Pineau will now begin his professional career in the Australian NBL. His new team is in the middle of a tough season with a 13-15 record which puts them in seventh place. He will add a young big man to the rotation who has experience playing at a high-level over the last three seasons. The Sydney Kings also start two NBA veterans in their lineup in Al Harrington and Steve Blake. These two can help the young player blossom into a solid pro and help find his way in the league.
