Damir Markota has Zagreb homecoming

Damir Markota (209 cm) will play for KK Cibona VIP Zagreb (Croatia, A1 and Adriatic League) for the first time in nearly ten years after re-signing for the club. The Swedish/Croatian player last featured for the club during the 2005/2006 season, playing eighteen Euroleague games that season and averaging 8.3 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.

Since departing Zagreb Damir Markota has become a hugely experienced player around the continent. The forward has played in Russia, Lithuania, Spain, Slovenia, Turkey, and Germany. He has also dabbled in the NBA after inking with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Last season Markota played for Brose Baskets Bamberg in the German BBL and Euroleague, averaging 7.9 points and 4.3 rebounds over 27 appearances in the former. The 28-year old started his career with Cibona way back in 2001 and is now returning to where it all started and will once again pull on the blue jersey of the Zagreb club.
