Dallis Joyner moves to Aguilas de Tunja
Dallis Joyner (203 cm, Stony Brook ’12) is now a member of Aguilas de Tunja (Colombia- Liga DirecTV). Joyner has never played in Colombia during his career. Not only that, but he’s never played in South America before, so this will be a new experience in his basketball career. The Aguilas de Tunja team he is joining is in the early stages of their season. Currently, the team is 3-6 which puts them sixth in the standings. A championship title was won by Aguilas two seasons ago.
Joyner made his debut yesterday, June 10, with the Colombian team. He found himself in the game for 40 minutes. Aguilas defeated Cimmarrones, 79-78, and Joyner contributed in a big way. The big man totaled 20 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists in what was a remarkable first impression. Fitting in doesn’t look like an issue for the American and look for him to continue playing well in Colombia.
Joyner played last season with Ironi Kiryat Ata (Israel-National League). While starting for the Israeli team, he totaled 32.5 mpg during 28 games in the National League. The big man was able to put up solid numbers with 15.7 ppg as well as 9.0 rpg.
