Crvena Zvezda stays undefeated in ABA at 15-0
Serbian powerhouse Crvena Zvezda “Red Star” MTS Beograd had a lot to celebrate on Christmas day. The team is completely dominating the ABA league this 2016-17 season. They defeated KK Cedevita at Zagreb 91-95 to stretch their undefeated streak to 15 wins. The loss was a tough blow to Cedevita as it knocks down the Croatian club down to fifth place with their 10-5 record.
Ognjen Kuzmic posted a massive 20-10 double-double to pace Red Star’s efforts in the paint, while Marko Simonovic would finish the night with a team-high 27 points. Stefan Jovic would flirt with a triple-double, scoring 10 points grabbing eight rebounds, and handing out seven assists.
Crvena Zvezda’s balanced offense was just enough to overcome a huge game from Cedevita’s Ryan Boatwright who ended up with a game-high 30 points and five assists. Boatwritght caught fire from downtown and knocked down 6-of-13 shots from beyond the arc. John Shurna chipped in 16 points of his own, but their combined efforts were not enough to slow down the Serbian squad.
Mega Leks and FMP took to the hardwood as well and it would be Mega Leks that would prevail at home 76-72. They are now 5-10 and cling to 10th place in the league standings. FMP slides down to 12th place and are now 4-11.
