Crvena Zvezda Stays Hot, 3-0 in ABA League
Once again, Serbian powerhouse, Crvena Zvezda “Red Star” MTS Beograd is on a campaign for a perfect regular season in the ABA League. They went on a historic win streak in 2016-17; a bubble burst by rivals BC Partizan. While the 2017-18 season remains in its infancy, Red Star is already gathering its collection of wins. The team is currently the only one to experience the bitter taste of defeat in the ABA League and are now 3-0.
The latest team to fall at their hands is Petrol Olimpija Ljubljana, from Slovenia’s Liga Nova KBM.
Olimpija vs. Crvena Zvezda, 73-82
Red Star rallied after finding themselves trailing their hosts by 11 points at the end of the first period. Crvena Zvezda has their success built on a very strong system and is an organization that has transformed itself over the last several years into on of the Adriatic region’s elite teams. Their atention to detail on defense paid off in the second half of the game and were able to grind out the win in the end.
Ognjen Dobric and Taylor Rochestie led the way for Crvena Zvezda, posting 17 and 16 points, respectively. Talor Battle paced Olimpija with 17 points of his own on some efficient scoring.
Can Red Star finally make history this season and crush all opposition on its way to the playoffs? It will surely be interesting to see if they can indeed complete their quest.
