Crvena Zvezda crushes Igokea 103-61 in ABA League
ABA League – Crvena Zvezda flexed their hoop muscles on Monday as they completely smashed BC Igokea in a 103-61 blowout home win. Red Star improves to 4-2 and currently squeeze into the top-4. It’s been a shaky start for the defending champions this season, but they have in recent weeks been finding the path back to their winning ways. This is their third win in a row and are rumbling along in a steady and determined pace.
While Crvena Zvezda was favored to come away with this victory, the dominant fashion with which they achieved getting this next W was them making a statement. They led from start to finish and stayed in control throughout the contest.
By the end of the first quarter, the hosts set up an 11-point lead (29-18). In the second, it was more of the same, with their momentum gaining even more steam. They put the game virtually out of reach, widening the gap to 53-28 by the halftime break. From the third quarter and onward, Igokea just could not muster enough to rally and erase the gap.
Billy Baron was amazing for Crvena Zvezda, leading the team with 19 points and nine assists. Lorenzo Brown was also equally generous with the rock, recording 13 points and eight assists on the night.
The team was on fire and could not be contained, shooting a mind-boggling 71.1 percent from 2-point range and 84.2 percent from the free throw line.
The rest of the teams in the ABA League can consider themselves put on notice. Crvena Zvezda has woken up and are ready to defend their title.
