Christian Maraker joins Norrkoping
Christian Maraker (206 cm, Pacific’06) has been signed by the Norrkoping Dolphins (Sweden-Basketligan) to replace the recently released James Hughes. Maraker has been playing in Japan over the last three seasons, 2009-10 and 2010-11 with Rera Kamuy Kokkaido and last season with the Hitachi Sunrockers, where he averaged 10.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per game over 43 games. He started this season with Panasonic Trians Osaka, but was released after 13 games. Maraker has also played on the Swedish National Team starting in 2003, then 2006-08 and 2011-12. In eight EuroBasket 2013 Qualification games he averaged 13.3 points and 4.9 rebounds as Sweden finished second in Group B and qualified to move on to Slovenia. Maraker played four years at Pacific University and compiled a 13.4 point and 6.6 rebound per game career average over 124 games. His senior year he dropped in 17.6 points and grabbed 8.9 rebounds per game in 32 games. Pacific qualified for the NCAA Tournament three of his four seasons, losing in the second round his sophomore and junior years and in the first round of this senior year. Maraker won the 2006 Big West scoring title over current Montepashi Siena star, Bobby Brown, 17.6 to 17.5ppg.
