China: Beijing Ducks win third CBA Title
China – The Shougang Beijing Ducks edge out the Liaoning Jeibao Hunters 108-109 in Game 6 of the CBA Finals to repeat as league champions and claim their third title. The Ducks were led by former NBA guard Stephon Marbury whose impressive performance during the series earned him the Most Valuable Player Award. Marbury out-dueled Liaoning’s Lester Hudson in what was a very close and tightly contested game.
The Liaoning Hunters came out ahead after the first quarter 25-24, but the 38-year-old Marbury and his squad would step on the gas during the second and third frames to take the lead and pull ahead. Liaoning would make a push in the final quarter, but it was not enough and the Ducks slid passed with the one-point victory.
Stephon Marbury finished the game with 24 points, seven assists and four steals. Xiaochan Zhai would lead the Ducks in scoring with his 27 points off the bench. Liaoning’s Lester Hudson ended the night with 27 points and seven assists of his own. TianJu He chipped in 21 points in the losing effort.
