CEZ Nymburk dominates for 15th straight Czech League title
CEZ Basketball Nymburk has won the 2018-19 Czech Republic NBL title after a decisive 89-60 Game 3 victory over BK Armex Decin in the finals. CEZ Nymburk has created a domestic basketball dynasty like no other. They won their first NBL championship in 2004. Since then, they have not skipped a beat and have successfully defended their crown all the way until now (2019). You could say it’s a matter of them being a big fish splashing around in a small pond, given the Czech Republic’s relatively small basketball market, but props must still be given with how they’ve managed to stay consistent, progressive and able to compete in other international competitions while still being able to take care of business at home.
There was next to zero doubt that Nymburk would be able to stay as champions in 2018-19. How could they not? The completely dominated the NBL with a pristine 36-0 undefeated record in regular season and were the clear hands-down favorites to win the title coming into the playoffs.
Nymburk led from start to finish and exploded for a 27-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. It was an easy cruise from there as Nymburk outclassed Decin and put on a clinic.
Mike Myers delivered 19 points and 10 rebounds on 8-of-10 shooting from 2-point range, proving to be an unstoppable force in the post that Decin simply could not contain. Vojtech Hruban added
