Cedevita Retains Croatian Premijer Liga Crown
Cedevita Zagreb remains the most dominant team in the Croatian Premijer Liga after bagging a fifth consecutive championship in 2017-18. They downed city rivals Cibona Zagreb in Game 4 of the finals 77-68. Cedevita ended the regular season tied with Zadar for the best record with 23 wins and one loss. Cibona came in third with their 18-6 slate.
Cedevita led for most of this game but only opened up their lead with a strong 21-13 performance in the third quarter. Cibona pushed hard in the fourth period but the defending champs met them in stride to retain enough of an advantage to come away with the victory.
Cibona actually held the edge both in the rebounding and assists departments but didn’t take care of the ball well and committed 14 turnovers, compared to just seven from Cedevita. The victors played sharp basketball and capitalized on the mistakes made by their opponents.
Dzanan Musa put up an impressive effort for Cedevita, dropping a game-high 21 points for his team. Credit also goes to Filip Kruslin who accounted for four of Cedevita’s 10 steals in this game, proving that defense still wins games. In the end, their solid team effort overcame a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double performance from Cibona’s Luka Zoric.
Cedevita remains King of the Hill this season. Will another team rise up and challenge their reign over the Croatian Premijer Liga in 2018-19?
