Can the Lakers Land Star Guard Bradley Beal?
Bradley Beal would be a perfect fit alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis, but do the Lakers have a realistic chance of landing the All-Star guard?
What are the chances that the Los Angeles Lakers land All-Star shooting guard Bradley Beal this season? According to Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report, the Lakers indeed want to bring in Beal to shore up the team’s roster but trading for the Washington Wizards star could be easier said than done. Haynes said that making a move for Beal would only be possible if he will demand a trade away from Washington. But it has been years now that Beal’s name has been swirling in trade speculations and yet, he has not forced his way out of the Wizards camp.
Bradley Beal, who turns 30 next year, has spent his entire career with the Wizards. Through nine games this season, the 6-foot-3 shooting guard is logging 35.1 minutes while putting up a stat line of 21.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.8 blocks. Beal is also shooting a career-best 51.7% clip from the field, including a very efficient 91.7% clip from the free throw line. With his ability to score from almost anywhere on offense, Beal has also been a much-improved defender, an asset that makes him a more coveted star around the league.
With a horrid 2-9 record to start the new season, the Lakers are trying to find some answers to address their problems. While it’s true that they don’t have a very good chance of landing Beal, the Purple-and-Gold franchise could still scour the market for players who will be a better fit alongside superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
