Buducnost Steals Game 1 of the ABA League Finals
Much to the chagrin of Serbian fans who filled Aleksandar Nikolić Hall in Belgrade, Montenegrin powerhouse Buducnost Podgorica defeated Crvena Zvezda “Red Star” Beograd 80-76 in Game 1 of the ABA League Finals. This was a stunner for sure, with Buducnost effectively seizing the homecourt advantage from the defending league champions. This an amazing first step for Buducnost in this series as it allows them to take them closer to their first-ever Adriatic League crown. That said, Red Star is far from done. This should prove to be a very exciting series.
The hosts were in control for most of the game but Buducnost went on a massive 18-6 run late in the third quarter and that was the turning point of the game. Nemanja Gordic powered Buducnost to victory with 18 points and four assists.
History is on the line and Red Star will get a shot at redemption on April 13th. Will they even up the ABA League Finals series with Buducnost or will the Montenegrin club find another flattering chapter in their ongoing Cinderella story?
