Buducnost stays hot, now 8-1 in ABA League
KK Buducnost Voli Podgorica is the top team in the ABA League (Adriatic League), sporting an impressive 8-1 record. They have shown consistency and have been playing solid, unselfish basketball. Their latest victim, MZT Skopje, fell in a blowout game 71-93 yesterday.
Buducnost has managed to stay on fire this 2017-18 season. They’ve dropped some tough competition in past weeks, but MZT Skopje (2-7) was not a dangerous threat and it came out in the result of the game.
Buducnost was in control for the entire duration. MZT Skopje did manage to mount a serious rally in the third period, cutting the lead down to eight points. Unfortunately, that’s as far as they got, with their hosts asserting themselves again and expanding on the lead anew.
Nikola Ivanovic paced Buducnost with 14 points. Petar Popovic and Kyle Gibson added 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Dominik Mavra was the top performer for the hosts with 14 points and seven assists.
Buducnost had the advantage in the paint. They controlled the boards, 38 compared to 24 by MZT Skopje. They also dominated the scoring in the post, with MZT Skopje having trouble slowing down their assault from 2-point range.
Buducnost will get a tough challenge on December 2, as they face Serbian powerhouse BC Partizan. That should be an exciting game to catch among the ABA League’s top teams.
