Buducnost forces decisive ABA League Game 5
Buducnost successfully defended its home court on Friday night in Game 4 of the ABA League Finals.
The hosts from Podgorica came back from a double-digit deficit and defeated Crvena Zvezda (84-80). As a result, the ABA League Finals will be determined in a do-or-die Game 5.
The Serbian visitors had a better start and were in control in the first half (35-38). They even extended their lead to double digits early in the second half (41-51), looking ready to claim the title.
Buducnost, though, bounced back and turned things around. Playing very well offensively, the Montenegrian hosts rallied past their opponents, outscoring them 43-29. Consequently, they forced the series to a decisive Game 5.
Norris Cole (31 points, six rebounds, six assists) and Edwin Jackson (23 points) made the difference for Buducnost. They combined for 54 of the winners’ 84 points, while Earl Clark added 15.
Billy Baron led the losing squad with 24 points. Mouhammad Faye and Ognjen Dobric posted 14 points apiece for the Serbians.
Game 5 will take place in Belgrade on Monday (22/04).
Crvena Zvezda had the upper hand after Game 2 (2-0). But, Buducnost came back and tied the series (2-2). Zvezda still has the home-court advantage, but their opponents have the momentum on their side.
All bets will be off in Game 5; the winner of the match will take it all and end the season in a triumphant way.
Whoever wins Game 5 will become the 2019 ABA League champion and will secure its place to the 2019/20 EuroLeague.
