Buducnost Advances to ABA Liga Finals
The ABA Liga Finals is set. Buducnost Voli Podgorica defeated KK Cedevita Zagreb 73-78 in Game 3 of their semifinals series to advance. They will get to defend their crown in what should be a grudge match from the 2017-18 finals, facing off against Crvena Zvezda “Red Star” Beograd. Buducnost took down that series in four games. Crvena Zvezda also held the best regular season record then but fell when it mattered most. Look for them to on a redemption campaign this time around. Red Star plowed through their Serbian rivals BC Partizan 84-63 on Friday.
Earl Clark was the key performer for the blue shirts in this deciding game, dropping 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the field including a couple of 3-pointers. It was a team effort however as four other teammates chimed in with double-digit points. Nemanja Gordic added 15, while Goga Bitadze and Edwin Jackson contributed 13 and 11 points, respectively. Even though Cedevita had a 34-28 advantage in the rebounds department, Buducnost was able to eke out an edge with more free throws made.
In a contrast of production, Cedevita leaned heavily on the big performance from one of their players. Justin Cobbs had a monster game with a game-high 23 points, but only Jacob Pullen supported him amply on the offensive end with 14 points.
The Finals will be epic as two of the league’s best teams face off once again. Sparks will fly as both clubs will be bringing their A game in a bid to claim the 2019 Adriatic region title.
