Brandon Triche vs. Virtus Roma at BAT

Brandon Triche (193 cm, Syracuse’13) filed a claim against former team, Acea Virtus Roma (Italy-Serie A) at the Basketball Arbitral Tribunal (BAT). The 26-year-old Triche submitted that the Italian team did not make payments and unlawfully terminated his contract. In its position, the club objected to the BAT’s jurisdiction and submitted that the player filed the suit untimely and that he had committed disciplinary violations which entitled them to terminate his contract prematurely. Triche was on the roster of Virtus Roma in the 2014-15 season.

In its decision, the BAT partially upheld the player’s claim with the Award reading as follows:

1. Pallacanestro Virtus Ssrl Unipersonale Roma is ordered to pay Mr. Brandon Triche USD 68,788.00 net as salary compensation.

2. Pallacanestro Virtus Ssrl Unipersonale Roma is ordered to pay Mr. Brandon Triche EUR 7,789.50 as a reimbursement of the arbitration costs.

3. Pallacanestro Virtus Ssrl Unipersonale Roma is ordered to pay Mr. Brandon Triche EUR 7,500.00 as a contribution towards his legal fees and expenses. Pallacanestro Virtus Ssrl Unipersonale Roma shall bear its own legal fees and expenses.

4. Any other or further-reaching requests for relief are dismissed.
