Bayern Munchen replaces Ondrej Balvin with Maik Zirbes
Maik Zirbes (208 cm) is on the move to FC Bayern Muenchen (Germany-BBL). The German player will be making his return back home to play basketball for the first time since the 2013/2014 season where he played for Brose Baskets Bamberg. Prior to the move to Bayern, Zirbes played with Maccabi Fox Tel-Aviv (Israel-Winner League). The center averaged 8.3 ppg with 4.4 rpg in the Isreali league, as well as helping his team make it to the cup final.
The move has led to the departure of Ondrej Balvin (217 cm). The Czech center struggled to find much playing time for the team with an average of 9.2 mpg. FC Bayern Muenchen is bringing in Zirbes with hopes of a late-season run to the title. The team currently sits in third place in the BBL standings with a record of 14-3. Maik Zibres has played for five other teams in Germany, so familiar territory will be in play for 27-year-old.
