Barclays Bank sits on top of the Nairobi league
Barclays Banks basketball team The Eagles are at the helm of the Nairobi Basketball Association League Zone A with 27 points from 14 matches played. Barclays Bank finished the 1st leg (11 matches) of the league with only one defeat going down to JKUAT Juja campus. They are followed by Don Bosco and Little Price who both have 25 points.
JKUAT Juja campus that has been in top form with their latest win coming from beating second place Don Bosco 90- 76 on Saturday at the Railways Sports Club, are in the 4th position with 24 points. Zetech College (23 points), high School students Upper Hill (20 points) and Neo Sasa Moran (19 points) follow at position 5, 6 and 7 respectively. Zetech has played 14 matches while Upper Hill has participated in 15 and Morans 12.
Saints, Dolphins and Mt. Kenya University Thika Campus follow with the three teams all sharing 18 points. All the teams have won 5 of their 14 matches with Saints and Dolphins forfeiting a match each. The last two teams are Woodley Knights and King Deaf with 15 points each after playing 13 matches.
In the Zone B of the league Strathmore Blades lead the standings with 33 points after 17 matches. This is the second team of the Strathmore University basketball team with the first team participating in the Kenya Basketball Federation Premier League. They are followed by Equity Bank which is the only team yet to taste defeat in the entire league. Equity has played 14 matches with the 67 44 drubbing of Multi Media University being their latest victory
Athi River based Daystar University comes in 3rd with 25 points after playing 16 matches. Legacy and Baraka extreme follow with the two teams having 23 points each having played 14 matches. The second half of Zone B sees Old Pirates, Multi Media University and Kenya Polytechnic occupy position 6, 7 and 8 respectively. Old Pirates and MMU share 22 points while Kenya Poly has 21 points.
The bottom three teams are Heroes, Our Lady Queen of Peace and Friends of Basketball (Kenya). Heroes and Our Lady share 18 points after 15 matches but Heroes has forfeited one of its matches. F.O.B has 16 points from 14 matches.
The league will resume next weekend at the Railways Sports Cub.
