Baltic Basketball: Top 16 Set to Tip off Jan. 7
The field is set for the next stage of action in the Baltic Basketball League, as four strongest teams from each of the regular season groups will face off in the Top 16 round.
The teams will be divided into four groups of four clubs each, with the two best-placed teams from each of the groups advancing to the quarter-finals.
Having won all ten games in the regular season, Ventspils will headline Group E, which also consists of a strong Lietkabelis side, the in-form Barons and Parnu.
Group F will be comprised of an interesting mix of teams in TU/Rock, who won their group in the round robin stage, the always dangerous Siauliai, Valmiera and Sakalai.
Prienai will be hoping to stretch their unbeaten game stretch in Group G, which also includes Kalev/Cramo, Palanga and Jelgava.
Together with the still undefeated Pieno Zvaigzdes, Group H will be made of Tarvas, Juventus and the Kazakh team Barsy.
The teams will play six games each, facing each of the group opponents twice – once at home, once on the road. The two best clubs from each group will qualify for the playoffs, starting with the quarter-finals, which will be held in March.
