Bakken Bears win Danish title
The Bakken Bears have won Denmark’s Ligaen title via a 92-83, game-seven victory over the Svendborg Rabbits. The Bears were lifted by the effort of their back court. Mainly through their point guard Andreas Jakobsen (187 cm, Columbia, MO’05), who led the team with 24 points. He also spearheaded the team’s offense as they held off the Rabbits’ key rally midway in the fourth quarter. Fellow guard Charles Parker (193 cm, Millersville’08) also came up big with a 21-point contribution of his own.
The Rabbits were able to keep the game close at the half, being down only by three points, 32-35. They just couldn’t muster enough momentum in the final quarter to pull closer than seven points. Rabbits starters Donald Rutherford (199 cm, Catawba’10) and Mikkel Plannthin (195 cm) each contributed 24 points apiece.
Bears’ starting center Chris Christofferson (218 cm, Oregon’02) was declared as the Finals Most Valuable Player. His defensive presence throughout the series was key to the Bears’ success.
