Augustinas Vitas loses claim vs. Apoel
Lithuanian player Augustinas Vitas filed a claim against his former club Cytavision Apoel Nicosia (Cyprus-Division A) at the Basketball Arbitral Tribunal (BAT) for outstanding salaries and interest. The player was with the club during the 2010/11 season. According to Article 16.2 of the BAT Rules, the Arbitrator issued an award without reasons. Unfortunately for Vitas, his claim was dismissed by the BAT.
Here are the details of the Award:
1. The claim filed by Mr. Augustinas Vitas against APOEL Nicosia BC is dismissed.2. Mr. Augustinas Vitas is ordered to pay to APOEL Nicosia BC the amount of EUR 2,500.00 as contribution to its legal fees and expenses.3. The costs of this arbitration until the present Award, which were determined by the President of the BAT to be in theamount of EUR 5,000.00, shall be borne by Mr. Augustinas Vitas alone. Accordingly, Mr. Augustinas Vitas is ordered to pay to APOEL Nicosia BC the amount ofEUR 2,500.00.4. Any arbitration costs associated with a Request for Reasons shall be advanced and borne by the requesting party.
