ASVEL Villeurbanne sets multiple records in EuroLeague makeup game vs Panathinaikos
ASVEL Villeurbanne decimated Panathinaikos at home (97-73) in a EuroLeague Round 3 pickup game and set multiple records.
The French dominated their opponents from the second quarter onwards and cruised to another EuroLeague victory.
On the other hand, the “Greens” made another poor performance and failed to build a winning streak.
ASVEL managed to set multiple club and EuroLeague records, thanks to its three-point percentage (17/24, 70.8%).
More specifically, both the triples made and accuracy represented new club bests, with the previous record being in 2003.
The 17 three-pointers tied for 15th best all-time in the EuroLeague and the 70.8% was the sixth most accurate in the competition’s history.
ASVEL improved to 3-6 in the EuroLeague standings after registering its second straight win.
On the other hand, Panathinaikos dropped to 3-7.
The hosts will travel to Madrid to face Real on Friday, whereas the visitors will face Armani Milano in Italy on Thursday night.
Armani Milano managed to extend its winning streak to three games, as they dominated ALBA Berlin at home in a EuroLeague Round 6 makeup game (75-55).
The Italians relied on their defense and a 23-9 run in the second quarter and cruised to an easy victory.
“I’m feeling very comfortable with the team, the way that we are playing, the energy that we put every day on the floor is very important,” Sergio Rodriguez told reporters afterwards.
Armani climbed higher in the EuroLeague standings and now has a 6-3 record. On the other hand, ALBA dropped to 3-7 and remained next to the bottom.
The Italians will be searching for their fourth straight win on Thursday, when they host Panathinaikos.
Meanwhile, ALBA will face Valencia on the road on Friday.
All four teams still have one or more EuroLeaue games to play, which did not take place, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Panathinaikos and ALBA will play one more EuroLeague makeup game, while Armani and ASVEL have another two games to play.
