Armon Johnson inks with Astana
Armon Johnson (191 cm, Nevada’10) has agreed to terms with BC Astana (Kazakhstan-D1). Johnson was most recently with the Orlando Magic, but was waived prior to the NBA season beginning. The last jersey he wore was the New Jersey Nets and he holds the distinction of having scored the last two points the Nets ever tallied at the Prudential Center prior to moving out of New Jersey and into Brooklyn. Johnson started the 2011-12 season with the Portland Trailblazers, playing in one contest before being assigned to the Idaho Stampede of the NBA D-League. In 2010-11 he was also with the Trailblazers, seeing action in 40 games, averaging 2.8ppg. He also spent time with Idaho in 2011, getting in the books in 9 games and contributing 18.2ppg, 4.2rpg and 3.0apg. Johson spent three seasons with the University of Nevada, accumulating an impressive 14.3ppg and 4.4apg over 101 games in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). He was drafted by Portland in the 2nd round (34th overall) in the 2010 NBA Draft.
