Andrew Goudelock added by EA7 Armani Milano
Andrew Goudelock (190 cm, Charleston ’11) is taking his strong scoring ability over to EA7 Emporio Armani Milano (Italy-Serie A). His new team has been a dominant force in Italy. They’ve won the regular season title four years in a row and won the Super Cup last season. However, they were not able to take home any more championships during their impressive run in the Serie A. Better late than never for the team, but they must feel like multiple championships should have been obtained.
The addition of Goudelock will add a legitimate scorer to their already impressive backcourt. The 28-year-old guard is coming off an outstanding year with Maccabi Fox Tel-Aviv (Israel-Winner League) where he recorded 15.3 ppg which put him third in the league in scoring. There are not many players that can shoot from three like Goudelock. He hit 51.7 percent of his three attempts last season as well as 91.5 percent from the charity stripe. His scoring ability should transfer over well to the Serie A. Especially, with the veteran winners from EA 7 Armani on his side.
Goudelock has been playing in high levels of competition since his graduation. His career began in the NBA after being selected in the second round of the 2011 NBA draft by the Los Angeles Lakers. He appeared in 43 games as a rookie but did not see any considerable opportunity. Playing in just 10 mpg, the guard scored 4.2 ppg and shot 38.7 from three. The Lakers kept him in the organization the following season and gave him an opportunity late in the season after he spent most of 2012/2013 in the d-league. He played in four games, late that season, and put up 9.0 ppg in 21.5 mpg. His three point shot was a disappointment as he only made 20 percent of his attempts.
Goudelock then moved out of the U.S. to the Unics Kazan (Russia-VTB) for the 2013/2014 season. Following that season in Russia, his playing days saw time in Turkey and China over the next two years. All of a sudden in the later stages of 2016 season, the Houston Rockets came calling for his services. Goudelock accepted their offer and made his return to the NBA. Once again, his time came in the waning games of the NBA season, which were somewhat meaningless games for the Rockets. Even without significant meaning in these games, Houston did not give Goudelock many minutes with just 6.2 mpg in his ten games. He only scored 2.8 ppg in his extremely limited role on the squad, but the experience should go a long way for his confidence going forward.
