Andrej Lemanis to coach Australian National Team
Andrej Lemanis will be replacing Brett Brown as the head coach of the Australian National Team. Lemanis was Brown’s assistant as the team competed in the 2012 London Olympics. Lemanis is currently the head coach of the New Zealand Breakers from Australia’s NBL. The Breakers had a dominant season as they finished as the Australian NBL Regular Season Champions and carried over the success as the Australian NBL Champions this 2013. He was also head coach at the Australian NBL All-Star Game this year as well.
“I am honored and humbled to be given the opportunity to lead the Boomers during this Olympic cycle,” Lemanis said.
“The foundation laid by Brett over the last four years has placed the team in a great position.
“We have a core group of players who are all committed to the program and are excited about the future.
“The experience we have gained together over the past four years will serve us well as we move forward.”
