Andray Blatche lands Mega-Deal in China
Andray Blatche (211 cm) signed with the Xinjiang Flying Tigers (China-CBA) in 2014/15 after failing to draw interest from NBA teams. The American player, who also holds a Philippine passport, has been a member of the Philippine National Team since 2014. Blatche settled in quite well in his new surroundings and proceeded to flourish with the Flying Tigers. In 38 games this season Blatche laid down some impressive numbers, scoring 31.1 ppg,14.6 rpg, 5.1 apg.
Apparently, he impressed the team management so much in 2014/15 that they decided to lock him in for three more seasons. Andray agreed to terms with Xinjiang for $7.5 million over three seasons. To date, this is the biggest deal between a player and a Chinese CBA franchise. Once criticized over his maturity during his NBA career, it appears that the big man has turned over a new leaf and found an organization that means business when they say they want him to stay.
