Andalou Efes improves to 15-0
Andalou Efes won for the 15th time in as many games in the current Turkish Basketball Super League campaign on Sunday.
Serbian star Vasilije Micic pumped in 20 points and dished out four assists and Rodrigue Beaubois poured in 15 to lead the victors past Galatasaray 90-80.
Adrien Moerman had 12 points and six rebounds for coach Ergin Ataman’s club. James Anderson and Bugrahan Tuncer scored eight points apiece. Anderson also had two steals. Sertac Sanli supplied seven points and eight rebounds. Shane Larkin, a key performer in recent vintage, contributed six points.
For Galatasaray (5-11), Yigit Arslan had a game-best 21 points. Teammate Travis Trice had 14 points, while Assem Marei added 13 points and six rebounds.
Andalou Efes Takes Commanding Lead
Andalou Efes led 49-40, then extended its advantage by outscoring Galatasaray 27-14 in the third quarter to take a commanding lead.
The unbeaten BSL squad led from start to finish in Istanbul.
Coach Ataman’s perspective
After the win, the Andalou Efes bench boss reflected on the game within the context of the team’s schedule.
“We’ve played fine basketball,” Ataman said. “It is the Euroleague double week and we will play two critical games that we would definitely love to win. Therefore, our players shared the minutes, our players those play in Euroleague found time to rest, and regardless, we’ve scored 90 points…”
Looking ahead to Euroleague matches, he said: “We will try to win both matches and find our way up on the league ranking.”
