Anadolu Efes Completes EuroLeague Final Four
The Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four is now complete. Anadolu Efes Istanbul prevailed over FC Barcelona Lassa 80-71 in Game 5 of their quarterfinal series to punch their ticket. The Final Four will tip off on May 17th with CSKA Moscow facing off against Real Madrid and on the other side of the bracket, an all-Turkish showdown will take place between rivals Fenerbahce and Anadolu Efes.
Sinan Erdem Dome was abuzz with many happy fans on Wednesday as Anadolu Efes secured their seat in the final four. They got huge games from their key players in this do-or-die game. Adrien Moerman and Shane Larkin led the charge with 18 points each, while Vasilije Micic came through with a 11-point, 10-rebound double-double. The team came together at the right time, erasing an early lead set up by Barcelona on some clutch 3-pointers.
The game ended up being a back-and-forth affair and went down to the dying minutes of the last quarter, where Barcelona still had a glimmer of hope, staring at a slim 4-point margin. However, Anadolu Efes would deny them the comeback victory thanks to some superb defense.
Thomas Heurtel and Chris Singleton were the top scorers for Barca, chipping in 12 points apiece. Ante Tomic added 10 points in just 15 minutes of action.
Now, Anadolu Efes have their sights set on their city rivals, Fenerbahce in the EuroLeague Final Four. Barca licks their wounds as they now work towards a domestic, Spanish League title.
