Amicale wins 2017 Luxembourg league title
It has been quite some time but Amicale Steinsel is back on top of the Luxembourg Total League. They defeated BC Musel Pikes 79-74 in Game 3 of the finals. This is the organization’s sixth championship but the last time they wore gold around their necks was over two decades ago, in 1981. This was the perfect ending to their storybook season this 2016/17. The team was a force of nature, going 25-3 in the regular season. Musel put up a fight, taking one game in the series but in the end Amicale would use their advantage in the low post and crushed their opponents to take the crucial win.
Amicale was so dominant that three of their players recorded double-double performances. The team was led by Billy McDaniel who dropped 23 points and 10 boards. Alex Laurent added 15 points and 16 rebounds. Shavon Coleman chipped in 16 points and 10 boards. The team took care of business on the glass, outrebounding Musel 46 to 34.
Amicale had to overcome a big game by Musel’s Jarmar Gulley, who wound up with a game-high 33 points.
This was a big win, a big championship for Amicale. Are they on the road to a repeat or will another team contest the title in 2017/18?
