Alex Ruoff lands with Joventut
Alex Ruoff (198 cm, West Virginia ’09) inked a deal to play with Divina Seguros Juventut Badalona (Spain-Liga Endesa). His new Spanish team went through a disappointing 2016/21017 campaign as they finished with an 11-21 record. The standings put Joventut in 14th place which was their worst finish since the 2000/2001 season. So these kinds of struggles are alarming for this club which calls for a makeover of the roster.
Ruoff is the newest part of the team’s rebuild and should provide a solid scoring swingman. The 30-year-old American showed the German league a year ago what he can do when given an opportunity. He was on two different teams in the BBL last season, but most of the year came with BG Goettingen (Germany-BBL). Ruoff played in 25 games with this team and put up great numbers, 15.0 ppg with 4.8 rpg and 4.7 apg. He did just about everything with the German squad as well as in Ludwigsburg (Germany-BBL) which is where he began the year. The team and Ruoff split ways after just five games where he scored 11.2 ppg. Germany is where Ruoff’s career has been held since 2013/2014. Moving to Spain will be a new atmosphere for Ruoff but his game should translate well.
