Aleks Maric inks with Gran Canaria 2014
Herbalife Gran Canaria 2014 (Spain-Liga Endesa) is readying to make a push for the Spanish League Playoffs and have added Aleks Maric (211 cm, Nebraska’08) to strengthen their frontcourt. Aleks is a 30-year-old Australian player who has been a former member of their national team in 2006, 2009, and 2011-12. This will be his fourth team this season. He began the 2014/15 season playing for Maccabi Electra Tel-Aviv (Israel-Winner League). He played eight games for them in the Euroleague and averaged 2.3 ppg and 2.3 rpg. In six games in the Israeli league Maric averaged 3.2 ppg and 3.8 rpg.
In December 2014 Aleks signed with Galatasaray Liv Hospital Istanbul (Turkey-TBL). His role with the team was minimal and he saw very little time on the floor. He played three games in the Turkish league and seven games in the Euroleague. Maric then later penned with Petrochimi Bandar Imam Harbour (Iran-Superleague). He played eight games for the Iranian club and averaged 9.3 ppg and 6.9 rpg.
