Albacomp are Hungarian league champs
In a decisive game-five victory, Albacomp-UPC Szekesfehervar prevailed over Szolnoki Olajbanyasz 75-66, allowing them to take the Hungarian A Division title.
The game was close in the early going, with Albacomp finishing the first half with a seven-point lead, 29-22. Szolnoki fought hard to bring down the deficit in the third quarter, but the regular season champions were not to be trifled with as they held off the visiting team. Albacomp held onto their 74-61 advantage in the dying minutes of the game to come away with the victory.
A trio of Albacomp’s starting imports led the way for the team. Point guard Ronald Moore (183 cm, Siena’10) led all scorers with 17 points. Meanwhile Brandon Wood (187 cm, Michigan State’12) and Damian Hollis (203 cm, George Washington’10) added 15 and 13 points respectively.
Szolnoki was paced by their center, Marton Bader (212 cm), who scored 15 points. Starting shooting guard and import James Florence (185 cm, Mercer’10) added 11 points.
